1.  What information does BASF collect during your visit to this website?

(1)  If you visit our website for information purposes (i.e. not by registering or contacting us), the following information is automatically transferred from your browser to our server:

- IP address of your computer
- Information about your browser
- Name of the website from which you are visiting us
- Name of the requested offer page (URL) or the requested file.
- Date and time of your visit
- Transferred data volumes
- Status information such as error messages

(2) If you contact us via a contact form on our website or by e-mail, we will receive the following information:

- Your e-mail address and any other information you provide to us in your e-mail or via fields on a contact form.

2. To what extent does BASF process the above data and for what purposes?

(1) When you visit the BASF website, we use the IP address and the other data automatically transmitted from your browser to our server under section 1 (1) for the following purposes

a) to be able to provide you with the requested content. We save the complete IP address only as long as this is technically necessary to display the requested page.

b) To transmit your IP address to a service provider who compares your public IP address with non-personal company information. This company information is stored by us. In this processing step, your IP address is neither stored by our service provider nor by us.

c) to protect us from attacks and to ensure the proper functioning of our website. We store the said data temporarily and access-protected for a maximum of 180 days. Excepted from deletion after a maximum of 180 days is data on accesses that are necessary for the further pursuit of attacks and disruptions.BASF will only attempt to find out who is behind an IP address in cases of illegal attacks.

(2) We store the IP address of your computer after we have shortened it by the last octet - i.e. in anonymous form - in order to analyze the usage behavior of visitors to our website and thus improve our website. The IP address is shortened for this purpose immediately after collection. We therefore do not collect any personal information about your usage behaviour on our website.

(3) If you contact us via a contact form on our website or by e-mail, we will use the personal data mentioned under point 1 (2) to respond to your enquiry and to comply with it as far as possible. This personal data will be stored for as long as is necessary to answer your enquiry and to comply with it.

3. Are you obliged to provide us with this data? Can you object to the use of this data?

When you visit our website, the information mentioned in paragraph 1 (1) is automatically transmitted from your browser to our server. The transmission of this information is voluntary. Without the provision of this personal data, we cannot display the requested page to you.

You are not obliged to allow us to use your already anonymous data for web analysis. You are also not obliged to allow us to compare your IP address with your company data.
You therefore have the opportunity to object to the use of your - already anonymous - data by clicking on the following button.

This contradiction has no consequences for you. You can continue to visit our website.

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data as described under point 2 is Article 6, paragraph 1, sentence 1, letter (f) of the Basic Data Protection Regulation. BASF's legitimate interest in these processing activities results from the purposes mentioned in Section 2.

5. to whom do we pass on your personal data?

We pass on the personal data mentioned under item 1 to contract processors domiciled within the European Union for the purposes under item 2. The processing there takes place on our behalf and according to our instructions. We do not intend to transfer your personal data to a third country.

6. How do we secure your personal data?

BASF uses technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorized persons. Our security measures are continuously revised in line with technological developments.

When you visit our website, we inform you in our "cookie banner" that we use cookies. By using our website, you declare that you agree to us using cookies. We would like to inform you about which cookies we use and how you can prevent our cookies from being set.

8. What rights do you have?

You have certain rights under the Basic Data Protection Ordinance:

8.2 Right to correction: If your personal data is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to have it corrected;
8.3 Right to deletion: On the basis of the so-called "right to be forgotten", you may request the deletion of your personal data, unless there is a duty to retain it.
