What are supplementary child benefits?

You have a job, but you still do not have enough money for you and your children? Check if you can apply for a child allowance.

Supplementary child benefits are a cash payment. It is supposed to support families with low income. However, you can only receive supplementary child benefits if you meet the following conditions: • You are receiving child benefits for your child. • You have a gross income of at least EUR 900 (for couples) or EUR 600 (for single parents). Being a single parent means that you do not have a partner who lives together with you and your child. • Your gross income does not exceed the income limit. • With child benefits added you have enough income to no longer be entitled to unemployment benefit II or income support. This means you won’t receive any more payments from the job center. You will only receive supplementary child benefit for children that are under the age of 25, unmarried, and live together with you. You can receive up to EUR 170 per child each month. It depends on how much money you are earning.
