Streaming tips for May

Stay at home. Easier said than done. But it can be done. What else are great movies and series for? Now is the perfect time to start a film or series marathon. That's why we present seven films and streaming highlights for May. Here we go:

Kismit - A story between destiny and longing - A film by Merve Uslu (YouTube)

The other side of migration: Have you ever asked yourself what happens to the villages from which large parts of the population have emigrated? What happens to the people and family relationships that were left behind? We talk a lot about the effects of migration in the destination country - Merve Uslu changes the perspective and shows us soulful insights from the village her grandfather once left with his relatives. Not everyone is happy about the course of history.

Ludwigshafen - My city (YouTube)

In "Ludwigshafen -- My City" director Mario Di Carlo presents life with and between cultures. His ten protagonists talk about their experiences of immigration, staying and their relationship to the industrial city on the Rhine. They have all built up a very special relationship with their city, which has become their home.

Turkish for beginners (Netflix)

Here German emancipation meets Turkish machismo. In an emergency landing on a desert island, the two protagonists have to fight for survival together - despite the great contrasts. Whether or not they succeed, you'll find out in this comedy. Here you come to the trailer.

Monsieur Claude and his daughters (Maxdome / Amazon Video)

Claude and Marie Verneuil are a wealthy, slightly old-fashioned and Catholic couple in the French province. For their four charming daughters, the couple can't imagine anything better than having an attractive French man at their side. This family comedy shows that when it comes to choosing a partner, character is the most convincing factor. Because love is colourful and diverse. But the parents don't seem to be so convinced and try to sabotage the unwanted relationships. Will love win in the end? You can watch the trailer here.

Almanya - Welcome to Germany (Netflix)

"Who or what am I - German or Turk?" This is what 6-year-old Cenk, who was not elected to either the German or the Turkish football team on the first day of school, asks himself. Is this Germany also a home or a foreign country? Grandfather Hüseyin had to ask himself this question, too, when he came to Germany at the end of the 60s as a Turkish guest worker. After 45 years he wants to go to Turkey with his family. But his family is anything but enthusiastic. A film in which topics such as national identity, migration and integration are conveyed. Here you can watch the trailer.

What have we earned this with? (Amazon Prime)

For the Viennese Wanda, her worst nightmare was: her teenage daughter Nina wants to become a Muslim. From now on she wants to live halal and wear a headscarf. Including changing her name. Pure desperation with her mother. Because she never expected that. You can find the trailer here.

Welcome to the Hartmanns (Amazon Video)

Germany opens its borders to refugees. And so the Hartmann family opens its doors. They decide to record the asylum seeker Diallo. But there are always differences of opinion. The family is put to the test and this is certainly not how the Hartmanns imagined it. If you would like to watch the trailer, take a look here.

We wish you a lot of fun watching it!
