The political and legal system

The Basic Law is the constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is the most important legal basis for living together in Germany. 

Political participation and parties

Every citizen has the opportunity to participate in political life in Germany and to influence politics - locally, in the federal state and at federal level. An important way of doing this is to participate in political parties, interest groups, citizens' initiatives and trade unions.

Integration councils and advisory boards

On a local level, integration or foreigner advisory councils often represent the interests of migrants.

Religion and religious communities

The vast majority of people in Germany are Christians. Christian values and holidays therefore shape life in Germany. But also other religions play a role in our society.
