Kids' meeting place Wattstrasse

On the 4th May 2018 the new room for the Kindertreff was officially inaugurated in the Ludwigshafen refugee accommodation on Wattstrasse. 17 pupils from the Ernst Bloch Integrated Comprehensive School together with their teacher Anke Lind had redesigned and rennovated the room for the children living in the accommodation. At IGS Ernst Bloch there is a compulsory elective subject "Volunteer Office". In this framework the pupils learn how a project is carried out on a voluntary basis. Everyone takes on what suits him or her best. It was the same here: there was a project manager, some pupils took over the acquisition and some were able to live out their manual skulls. What has come out of this is truly impressive.

And for the children of Wattstrasse between six and forteen years there is now a nicely decorated room where they can do their homework twiche a week and play afterwards. Occasional excursions and holiday programmes are also planned fom the Kindertreff Wattstrasse. The Kindertreff is run by two honorary pedagogical staff and was well received from the very beginning. The fee and material costs were bought together by the initiative lokale Agenda 21 Ludwigshafen e.V. through funding from the lottery Ludwigshafen, the Bürgerstiftung Ludwigshafen and the German children's charity as well as through private donations. The budget will alst until mid-2019 when a new collection and decision on continuation will have to be made.
