Integrative school campus at the Pestalozzischule Mannheim

Providing all children with equal opportunities for the future - that is the goal of the "Integrative School Campus", funding concept. Together with various partners and financed by a social impact partnership the City of Mannheim is testing innovative learning concepts and individual support approaches at the Pestalozzigrundschule.

Well over a third of the pupils at the Pestalozzi School have foreign roots and grow up in non-German speaking families. For example, there are often large differences in the language and learning levels of children from German-speaking homes when they start school. Only the individual support of these pupils enables them to make up for missing knowledge. The funding concept "Integrative School Campus Pestalozzischule" enables this targeted support and enables pupils to have the same educational opportunities at the end of the fourth grade with regard to their future school carerr as pupils without a migration backgrouond. At the same time, the whole school benefits because the learning climate and the quality of teaching improve.

BASF is pre-financing the project as part of its soical commitment. The amount of the repayment depends on the extent to which the previously agreed impact objectives of the project are achieved. Through this performance-related reimbursement the City of Mannheim pays only for measureable positive effects. The risk-free pre-financing enables the City of Mannheim to impelemtn innovative measures and to intervene at an early stage. The non-profit analysis and consulting company PHINEO developed the project together with the partners and is respinstivle for the central coordination. The Bertelsmann Stiftung is supporting this pilot project to test new instruments and partnerships for greater social impact.
