COVID-19: What to do in case of cold, cough & fear of corona virus?

Corona, corona, corona everywhere... Many people are afraid of infecting themselves or others with it. But don't worry: stay calm and follow the rules of hygiene. This is the best way to protect yourself and those around you from the virus.

Maybe you're not sure if you've been infected by the corona virus. Especially if you have a cough or a cold.

There are several scenarios. Here Kenan from alvivi explains various scenarios and what you have to do then.

Scenario 1: You had contact with a person who is surely sick from the corona virus.

What to do now: Immediately call the health department (Gesundheitsamt) and tell them that you have had contact with an infected person. You must do this in any case, even if you do not have a cough or a cold and do not feel ill.

Which public health department should I call?

You are not sure which health authority is your contact person. No problem. On this page you just have to enter your postcode to find out where to call: https://tools.rki.de/plztool

Scenario 2: You have been to regions (e.g. Italy) where the corona virus is very common and feel ill within 14 days.

Then you need to call your doctor. Tell him that you were in a high-risk area and now you feel sick.

Scenario 3: You have been in a risk area and do not actually feel ill.

Try to have as little contact with other people as possible: Don't go to events and stay at home as much as possible. It can take up to 14 days before symptoms of illness appear. Little contact helps to avoid infecting others.

And always wash your hands and follow the cough and sneeze rules!!
